<p>Call To Action&rsquo;s national conference is an annual homecoming. Catholics from around the country and abroad women and men married and single divorced and remarried ordained and lay who span the entire spectrum of skin color gender identity sexual orientation and expressions of Catholicism gather for a weekend of inspiration and transformation. Attendees often refer to the conference weekend as the weekend of the year.</p> <p>This year&rsquo;s conference The Well of Many Rivers: Creating Currents of Change recognizes that God quenches our thirst for justice and sends us on many different ministries to bring much needed change to our church and world.</p> <p>Keynote speakers: Kerry Kennedy President of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights; Rev. James Lawson of the Southern Christian Leadership Council and colleague of the late Martin Luther King Jr.; and Sr. Elizabeth Johnson CSJ Distinguished Professor of Theology at Fordham University.</p> <p>There are over 40 <a href=http://cta-usa.org/conference-program/#workshops>workshops</a> spanning the 2 1&frasl;2 days including at least four with a LGBT focus: &ldquo;From Sanctuary to Birthing a New Church&rdquo; by Marianne Duddy-Burke; &ldquo;A La Familia: LGBTQ Acceptance in the Latino Catholic Community&rdquo; by Lisbeth M. Melendez Rivera &amp; Rosa Manriquez; &ldquo;LGBTQ Youth&rdquo; by Deb Word Jennifer Keane and Will Batts; and one co-presented by DignityUSA Associate Director Jim Smith on mobilizing the community at a Minneapolis Catholic high school that lost two staff who married same-sex partners.</p> <p>Early-bird <a href=http://cta-usa.org/conference-registration/>registration</a> is available until September 20 at $199 for members.&nbsp;</p>
