Older homes are always a work in progress. That is certainly true of the fine old building that Dignity/Washington purchased some fifteen years ago and converted into the Dignity/Washington Center. Following a year of careful planning the community’s Board approved the plan to completely gut and replace the Center’s serviceable yet worn (read: “tired and old”) kitchen. The transformation was paid for out of the Always Our Home Fund created through special donations from Dignity/Washington members and their friends to be used for such purposes. Contractor John Woods delivered the new kitchen on time and on budget. Everyone is very happy with the results. Located on historic Barrack’s Row the Dignity/Washington Center serves as the meeting place for many community activities and is also used by a variety of other smaller nonprofit groups.
