<img alt= src=/sites/default/files/images/transgender2.gif style=width: 72px; height: 63px; float: right; />Peggy Burns Operations Manager and Robin Erikson Dignity/Boston member attended the 33rd Annual First Event Conference on January 25-26 2013.

First Event has grown into one of the largest trans gatherings in the world and the only major winter Conference. First Event has something for nearly everyone including educational lectures workshops and courses nightly entertainment with dancing banquets special lunches trans-oriented vendors and more!

First event is sponsored by the Tiffany Club of New England a social and support organization for the transgender community.

The theme of the 2013 Conference was “We’ve Only Just Begun.” The conference draws many people to the event and continues to grow each year. Noticeable is the number of younger folks attending the Conference. This year was the first year that the organizers sponsored a Transmasculine Track.

The main speaker at the event was Amanda Simpson the first openly transgender woman appointed by any U.S. President. Grace Stevens co-chair of the Conference says “First Event is honored to host Amanda Simpson as our keynote speaker. She is a pioneer in our community with many valuable lessons to share. We believe her being with us will encourage and energize people in our community to reach bravely for their goals.”

Dignity/Boston was a sponsor and had a table at the Conference. Many of the other non-profits stopped by the table and shared information. It was a great two days of networking.

A quote often heard was “We are glad you are here.”

For further information about First Event or The Tiffany Club see www.tcne.org.

(Any chapter who is able to staff a table at a conference please let the Trans Caucus know and someone will get back to you regarding a conference in your surrounding area.)
