We have had a busy fall at Dignity/San Antonio as we continue to make efforts to build community among ourselves and to create ties with other supportive communities of faith.

In October we sponsored community-building events in addition to our regular weekly liturgy. On October 7 we held our 18th annual Solidarity Sunday interfaith service at our home worship space Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church. This service is an effort to promote a spirit of non-violence toward all people but especially toward the LGBT community. Clergy from a variety of traditions shared passages from their denomination’s books of wisdom and spoke about the theme of non-violence. The event was well attended and concluded with a potluck dinner.

Later in October we held a joint liturgy with the Gay and Lesbian Episcopalians and Friends (GLEF). We continue to seek opportunities to create fellowship with GLEF and plan to hold another gathering in the spring possibly to include members of Reconciling Works the LGBT Lutheran group in San Antonio.

In November we held our 26th annual Fall Ball at a downtown hotel. The Fall Ball is an event we have for fun as an opportunity to dress up (maybe even in drag) and have a nice dinner and a good time dancing with our friends.

In the new year our attention will turn to planning a spring art show to help raise funds for our upcoming trip to the Twin Cities.

If any of you are ever in San Antonio please join us for our liturgy every Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church. We would love to see you and welcome you to the heart of Texas.
