<img alt= src=/sites/default/files/logos/Honolulu_0.jpg style=width: 150px; height: 84px; margin-left: 5px; margin-right: 5px; float: right; />On Sunday October 14 Gene Corpuz and Tim Earhart attended the Maryknoll Centennial celebration of 100 years of ministry of the Maryknoll Order in the U.S. as well as 85 years in Hawaii. Sister Joan Chatfield had invited Dignity/Honolulu to attend the special Mass and festivities because of her close relationship with the group. She has given homilies during the chapter’s weekly liturgies and was the one to encourage the group to have lay-led liturgies when the local bishop prohibited priests from presiding at Dignity Masses. She also experienced unfairness on our behalf when Bishop Dilorenzo suspended her teaching contract at Chaminade University for one year as a result of a special award she received from Dignity/Honolulu.

Other Maryknoll nuns have also supported Dignity/Honolulu by giving homilies or leading liturgical dance at their liturgies. We thank the Maryknoll sisters for their longtime support of our chapter.
