The Dignity/Detroit AIDS Walk team was extremely honored to participate in the event by opening two panels. The majority of the twenty panels were in memory of far too many Michigan natives who have lost their lives to this devastating disease.

Upon the opening of each panel the people involved stepped to the perimeter of the Quilt display. When all twenty panels were opened and after a brief moment of silence everyone at the Walk site broke into applause in honor of those whose panels were on display.

We were extremely proud and honored to have friends from the Peace and Justice Team of Gesu Catholic Church join us. Gesu is just down the street from Marygrove College where we hold our Liturgy every Sunday evening. The leadership team of Dignity/Detroit has had conversations with the Gesu Peace and Justice team members about working together in support of one another.

Although the official total of money raised by the team will not be known for about two weeks we are proud to announce that our straw poll of walkers puts the 2012 Dignity/Detroit Walk Team total at just over $11000!

All funds raised by the Dignity Walk team will be forwarded to the Health Emergency Lifeline Programs here in Detroit. Health Emergency Lifeline Programs (HELP) is a non-profit community-based organization that provides essential services for people who are at-risk or infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and/or Hepatitis C.
