Summary of February 2020 San Antonio DignityUSA Board Meeting
The DignityUSA Board of Directors met in San Antonio Feb. 28-March 1. In addition to a wonderful gathering with the Dignity/San Antonio chapter for liturgy and dinner, here’s a short overview of what we discussed:
We fleshed out projects and ideas for our four pillars of our strategic plan:
- Expanding our influence as the go-to voice for LGBTQI Catholics;
- Exploring alternative models for community and member communications and engagement;
- Ensuring our financial sustainability; and
- Developing educational & theological resources for diverse LGBTQI & ally experiences
Just as so many nonprofits are going through the challenges of changing funding structures and shifting ways people respond to issues and groups important to them, DignityUSA is no different. Together the board developed a financial sustainability plan, with both short-term and long-term funding plans integrating some different sources along with our tried & true ways.
Among specific issues, the Board worked on were the Outreach2020 conference on LGBTQ ministry at Fordham University in June, the DignityUSA Young Adult Caucus retreat in July in Indianapolis, the implications of the Supreme Court taking on the case of Catholic Charities in Philadelphia refusing to place children with LGBTQI people, plans for presence at Transgender confererences around the country, and plans for DignityUSA conferences in 2021 (San Diego) and 2023. The Board also adopted a new logo, which captures the energy of our future vision. Look for this new look in about a month!
We are always so grateful for your generosity of time, talent, and treasure. If you would like to get involved in any of this – our programmatic ways of our strategic plan or long-term sustainability, please do reach out. Otherwise, stay tuned for more soon!
