From the Depths of Our Souls to the Ends of the Earth

The days are getting longer, the light in the horizon produced by the setting of the sun lingers, and the sky embraces more shades of blue, orange, pink, and purple than has been possible in the last 6 months. Spring is indeed in the air, and for those of us who have survived a long and brutal winter, a very welcome change of season. Together with the new greeting of nature, our souls are ready for the light, the creation of something new, the resurrection of life and the conquest of death. The bells are ringing loudly and the alleluias are resounding in big cathedrals, in small chapels, and in communities all over the world. It is Easter, and we rejoice.

A Glimpse of Church Reform in Europe

by Marianne Duddy-Burke, Executive Director

In March, I had the honor of representing the U.S. at the biennial meeting of International Movement We Are Church (IMWAC). This group, comprised of Church reform groups from Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Australia, and Africa, has been working to strengthen the international network of Catholic activists since 1996. Visit the proposed new dignityusa.org

DignityUSA’s website, www.dignityusa.org, is changing.  The Website Redesign Team has built a website based upon input of the DignityUSA community and the technology now available.  The new site is designed to support desktops, laptops, and tablets, as well as smart phones, so you can access it your way. The site is more community oriented, more people oriented.  With a new structure and new services, the new website hopes to be a place where people will congregate and communicate, as well as share activities and stories with the rest of the DignityUSA community.

Highlights of DignityUSA's History

DignityUSA Marketing Committee launches national ad campaign in June. The committee, headed by Tom Streeper, Lewis Tanner, Marty Grochala, Chuck Provancher and Matthew Gallagher, launches the campaign to create awareness and "Amplify the Voice of DignityUSA" across the country. The campaign is aimed at combating the violence GLBT people feel from the Vatican, supporting the marriage debate taking place across the country, and providing a picture of what a loving GLBT Catholic family looks like. The "DignityUSA Calls It Love" campaign, celebrating GLBT families, includes national advertising in the National Catholic Reporter (NCR) and The Advocate, local and regional ads, as well as Dignity chapter-sponsored advertising and Gay Pride event booths and displays.
