Dignity/Washington celebrated its 41st Anniversary with pride, gratitude, and gusto with a dinner, silent auction, and community service awards presentation on September 28 at the Dignity Center. Attendees had the option of either bringing a food item to the potluck table, or paying a bit more for the price of admission. This arrangement turned out very well as there was more sumptuous food to enjoy than anyone would have thought possible.
A Silent Auction of over eighty donated items yielded proceeds of over $6,000 for Dignity/Washington’s general fund.
Award recipients included Tom Yates (President’s Award); Mark Clark (John Willig Award); and John Fegan, Maurice Lapierre, Len Latham, Tom McMahon, Ernie Raskauskas, and the Shipps family (Community Service Awards). Tom Little, Pastoral Associate to Bishop Rozanski, from the Office of the Seton Vicar, Archdiocese of Baltimore, received the Veronica & Gerald Colfer Award given to individuals who have contributed significantly to the broader LGBT community.
