Bread Not Stones

Support Our Witness As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops prepares to gather for their fall meeting, fellow Catholics call on them to stop acting like culture warriors and political operatives and start behaving like shepherds and healers. The U.S. Catholic bishops are ignoring the real needs of those whom our faith calls us to prioritize – and playing politics instead. On November 15th at the USCCB Assembly in Baltimore, MD we'll gather together in peaceful and prayerful witness to call for bread, not stones – healing, not harm.

“Bread, Not Stones,” (Matthew 7:9) will call for our bishops to be pastors, not political operatives, and to better align with Pope Francis and the majority of Catholics who believe that the Eucharist “is not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.” We believe it is wrong to weaponize sacraments, and pray that our witness will instead affirm the dignity, rights, and freedom of conscience of all people. The decision is a drastic attempt to weaponize the Eucharist and force U.S. Catholics to submit to the bishops’ whims. Join us in calling out this injustice and letting the world know that the Eucharist must not be weaponized or politicized.
