As 2015 winds down and we prepare to celebrate Christmas, it is a time for us to look back at the year. These are a few of the many DignityUSA successes this past year.
Allyship During Trans Day of Remembrance: It's Not Enough
TDoR is a day when we mourn those whose inner fires had been snuffed out by hatred, but if cisgender people like me are to call ourselves allies, we have to remind ourselves that it's not enough to dedicate one day in November to such a conversation.
US Bishops Conference Betrays Catholic Church
As the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) concludes its annual meeting this week, it reveals itself as grossly out of touch with both grassroots Catholicism and with Pope Francis. While there were certainly some who objected, the strong majority of US Bishops set forth an agenda that has little to do with the Gospel of Jesus, is opposed by the majority of US Catholics, and will squander Church resources, even as parishes, schools, and service programs continue to be shuttered due to decimated diocesan budgets.
