Dear friend, Thanks for signing up for email updates from DignityUSA! As DignityUSA's executive director, I want to warmly welcome you to our online community. As a subscriber to Dateline, our email newsletter, you can expect to hear from us a few times a month with updates about our work and ways for you to get involved. Who We Are: DignityUSA is a movement of LGBTQI* Catholics, our families and friends. Our mission is to work for respect and justice for people of all sexual orientations, genders, and gender identities in the Catholic Church and the world through education, advocacy, and support. We are a national, independent and non-profit organization with 37 local chapters located throughout the United States, as well as five national caucuses that gather people by identity or interest. We are led by an elected board of directors, a lean, four-person national staff team, and dozens of dedicated volunteers. What We Do: In our local chapters, we worship together, gather for community and friendship, and organize on educational and justice issues. As a national organization, we advocate for change in the Catholic Church, provide educational materials, represent LGBTQI and Ally Catholics in the media, in legislatures and the court system, and on coalitions, and network internationally with Catholics around the world. Every other year, we host a national convention that brings together members, friends, activists, and theologians for study and reflection. Some of our recent efforts include: - Supporting the Detroit chapter as they dealt with the Archdiocese’s prohibition against meeting in Catholic space and ban on priests presiding at Dignity-sponsored Eucharist
- Offering two different ways for people across the country and beyond our borders to experience affirming liturgies each week during this time of social isolation
- Filing amicus briefs in three court cases addressing LGBTQI Catholic issues
- Protesting Springfield, Illinois Bishop Paprocki’s mistreatment of transgender and non-binary people with petitions and letters sent to the bishop, Cardinal Cupich, and the Papal Nuncio
Your Support Matters: DignityUSA’s work for LGBTQI Catholics depends on the contributions of supporters like you! Our advocacy work, educational materials, and online presence need your support. Make a one-time donation or learn about becoming a member. Again, welcome! And thanks for all you do to seek justice and dignity for all of God’s people. Sincerely, Marianne Duddy-Burke Executive Director
