Solidarity Sunday is a faith-based anti-violence initiative which DignityUSA initiated in 1995 as a way of making our opposition to anti-LGBTQ violence visible.  This program is not limited to Catholics but is for all people!

DignityUSA Board of Directors Par- ticipate in “Trans 101” Workshop 

 
DignityUSA Board members (as well as Dignity/Boston guests Marcia Garber, Stephen Young, and Peggy Burns) participated in a workshop called “Trans 101.”  It highlighted practical strategies to welcome the Transgender Community to chapters and faith communities.  The training took place on Saturday, July 22, at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel, during the recent Board meeting.

Give Out Day Results Confirm Our Mission and Work

 
The Give Out Day campaign yielded over $6,500 for DignityUSA. There were 46 donors, including some repeat donors from last year's effort, and 7 new donors. A matching challenge grant of $2,500 was pledged by a long-time DignityUSA member and supporter which certainly helped to motivate others to participate

We welcome all of our members to meet the DignityUSA Board during the weekend of September 30 – October 2, 2016 at the Bayfront Suites, in Plainfield, Indiana. The Board will be meeting beginning Friday, September 30 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday, October 1 from 9:00 a.m.

Global Network of Rainbow Catholics Elects Officers, Becomes Important International Voice

 
A little less than a year after its official formation, the Global Network of Rainbow Catholics (GNRC) has elected officers from three continents.  The group’s Co-Chairs will be Ruby Almeida of the UK and Michael Brinkschroeder of Germany.  Benjamin Oh of Australia will serve as Secretary, Chris Vella of Malta will be Treasurer, and Fernando Gonzalez of Chile will fill the role of Communications Executive.

Sharing Our Stories, Creating a Home 

 

The Dignity Young Adult Caucus (DYAC) gathered July 29-31, 2016 in Chicago for its third biennial summer retreat. Twenty-three young adults from across the country gathered at the Cenacle Retreat & Conference Center for friendship, prayer, faith sharing, and storytelling.

Dignity/Twin Cities Hosts International Group

 
On July 20, 2016, sixteen Dignity/Twin Cities members and friends hosted a discussion with eight members of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) run by the U.S. State Department. The visitors wanted to hear about the formation of Dignity/Twin Cities, and how DignityUSA works to change Roman Catholic teaching on sexual ethics, in favor of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Catholics at the national and international levels.

Nuns on the Bus Stop in Boston

 
On a hot Saturday morning, the Nuns on the Bus greeted a crowd of more than 150 people on the lawn of Boston College High School, as part of their 23-city tour to advocate for greater commitment to social justice by elected officials and voters alike.

Dignity/Washington News 

 

Dignity/Washington President Vin Testa appeared on WPFW’s Inside Out radio show in late July. Several current and former young adult members from Dignity/Washington joined about twenty other LGBTQ young adults from around the country for a retreat in Chicago.
