We need your help. In early January, the previous administration removed the Department of Health and Human Services' LGBTQI nondiscrimination rules. This will allow agencies and organizations that receive federal funding to discriminate against LGBTQI people, couples, and families. This dangerous move opens the door to all kinds of abuses and attacks on LGBTQI inclusion, but has especially serious implications for our country’s adoption and foster care system. Already, religiously-affiliated adoption and foster care agencies have refused to consider LGBTQI couples as foster or adoptive parents, claiming religious freedom as their justification. Many organizations will see this rule change as license to discriminate against LGBTQI people and will deny children in need access to loving, supportive homes.
We’re responding. We’ve asked the Biden administration to use his executive authority to reinstate these protections. Join us in sending a message to President Biden, asking him to undo this attack on LGBTQI people and restore the HHS’s safeguards against discrimination. Already, hundreds have responded and added their voices calling for justice. Add yours and call on your friends and family to respond as well. |
