A blessed Thanksgiving to all our DignityUSA members and friends. As we begin our 50th year, we want to extend a very special Thank You to everyone who has been part of Dignity’s growth and tenacity throughout our first five decades. Your commitment to justice, equality, and full inclusion of LGBTQI Catholics in our Church and our world have been vital in making things better for our community. You now represent a majority of US Catholics, those who know that teachings that dehumanize us, discredit our truth, and encourage discrimination contradict Jesus’ message and the foundations of our faith. We thank each one of you who has stood against violence and oppression, who has proudly spoken up when it would be easier to remain silent, who has come out as a Catholic, as an LGBTQI person or Ally, who has helped to create possibilities for future generations and for those in places where equality is but a dream. We thank each one of you who has attended a Dignity liturgy, retreat, or social event, helped to lead a Caucus or Chapter, become a member, provided financial support, or volunteered your talents to a national initiative. You are the reason we have made it to 50, and the reason we look forward to a strong and vibrant future.
As you count your blessings this Thanksgiving day, know we count you as one of our blessings. May your day and the end of our liturgical year offer joy-filled time with family and friends, as well as the opportunity to reflect on the many ways God has touched your life, and touched so many others through you.
