"What Does Gay Mean?"
"What Does Gay Mean?" is an anti-bullying program designed by the National Mental Health Program to improve understanding and respect for youth who are gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender (GLBT). Centered on an educational booklet calledWhat Does Gay Mean? How to Talk with Kids About Sexual Orientation and Prejudice, the program encourages parents and others to communicate and share values of respect with their children.
PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays)
PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends.
Includes a downloadable brochure called "Our Trans Children: A Publication of the Transgender Network of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays."

How have you felt when people have shouted "Dyke!" or "Faggot!" at you or someone you know? You do what you have to do to survive, right? Either retreat in secrecy and fear or throw it back in their faces. With that kind of name calling, you just know they wouldn't understand. At the heart of both reactions is a longing to fit in.
