Dignity USA Celebrates National Coming Out Day!

Today's celebration of National Coming Out Day is dedicated to Gene Corpuz of Dignity Honolulu in celebration of his 64th Birthday! Thank you Gene for your continual support of DignityUSA! 

National Coming Out Day was started by Richard Eichberg, a psychologist, and Jean O'Leary, a gay rights activist, in 1988 to raise awareness of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community and its work towards civil rights. It commemorates the anniversary of the second big National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights, which took place in 1987. 

This National Coming Out Day, it’s never been more important to advocate for LGBTQ Americans — especially those living in the 29 states without adequate nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ+ folks. As we celebrate #NationalComingOutDay, let’s work together for an end to unfair discrimination against the queer community and ensure that ALL Americans feel safe to live their truth.
