Gay Catholics Disappointed by Ballot Results in Hawaii and Alaksa

Washington, DC - November 4, 1998 - DignityUSA, the nation's largest and oldest organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Catholics, is disappointed by the decisions of Hawaii and Alaska voters to not respect the rights of all citizens, regardless of sexual orientation.

Gay Catholics Saddened by Alaska Catholic Bishops' Endorsement of Marriage Amendment

Washington, DC - October 1, 1998 - DignityUSA is disappointed that the Catholic bishops of Alaska have chosen to publicly and aggressively support a state constitutional amendment that legalizes discrimination of same-sex couples in civil marriage.

DignityUSA Executive Director Charles Cox Speaks on C-SPAN

On Wednesday, August 12, 1998, the Family Research Council (FRC) held a press conference in Washington, in which they claimed that homosexuality and religion were incompatible. The FRC brought out a number of individuals from mainstream denominations (Christian and non-Christain), all of whom declared homosexuality to be a sin.

HRC organized a rebuttal press conference for noon that day. Charles Cox was one of the participants along with other members of faith communities. The press conference was shown live on C-SPAN.
