Convention Corner:
Send in Your Registration TODAY!

Send in your completed Convention 2001 registration (download PDF form) TODAY to take advantage of the early bird discount before May 1! The 2001 Committee is proud and thrilled to offer Dignitarians from across the country the opportunity to partake of a wonderful lineup of speakers, a bevy of workshops, three spirit-filled liturgies, and the comforts of the Westin Hotel in the heart of Chicago. This Convention will be another memorable Dignity family reunion. It will be a time to renew friendships, make new friends, fill your soul, and lift your spirit.

Christian de la Huerta, author of the best-selling Coming Out Spiritually, The Next Step will address the convention on how GLBT people come out spiritually and are reclaiming our spiritual heritage. Christian hosts "Spirit Wave," an online radio program heard weekly at www.gaybc.com and is the founder of Q-Spirit, an organization promoting personal growth and spiritual development in the GLBT community.

By now DignityUSA members should have received their personal invitation in the mail to our biennial family reunion. More details on the convention…

DignityUSA Receives Largest Single Donation In Its History!

On Sunday, March 11 during the Board of Directors Meeting in Chicago, a special reception was held to honor Jim Green & Bill Diederich "In Appreciation of Faithful and Generous Support." Not only have Jim & Bill dedicated themselves over the years to the mission of Dignity, they have also given to DignityUSA the largest single donation to date, $52,000! To thank them for their dedication and commitment as well as their generous financial support, Mary Louise Cervone presented Jim & Bill with a beautiful etched glass plaque declaring them "Perpetual Members of DignityUSA."

Thank you Jim & Bill! You are an inspiration to us all.

National Board Hard at Work

The National Board of Directors met in Chicago March 9-11. The primary focus of attention was on the proposed changes to our bylaws that will be the topic of discussion at the House of Delegates meeting just prior to the Convention in Chicago. The directors have spent hundreds of hours working on the re-imagining of Dignity in compliance with the will of the House of Delegates, meeting in Denver two years ago, to help us all effectively carry out our message well into this new millennium. The directors met for 2 hours on Friday night, and spent all of Saturday from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm breaking only for lunch. Chris Pett and Fr. Tom facilitated the meeting.

The directors wrapped up their work on Sunday. The details of this very important board meeting will be mailed to the chapters for their review prior to the convention in July.

DignityUSA Co-sponsors Equal Partners in Faith Conference

On April 2-4, 2001 DignityUSA is co-sponsoring a conference on "The Progressive, Faith-Based Agenda: A Tribute to Martin Luther King, Jr." in Washington, DC. Contact the national office for details.

CWC Publication

Voices & Visions, the publication of the Committee for Women's Concerns, is now a monthly publication of thought-provoking articles on various diversity issues within Dignity. The February edition was devoted to topics on transgender issues while the March edition focused on families in Dignity. The April edition will highlight the subject of bisexuality. All chapters are encouraged to make Voices & Visions available to their members and friends at weekly liturgies and in their newsletters. For more information on this publication contact Janet O'Day at joday@maine.rr.com.
