Call to Action 2000 Conference

Plan to attend Call To Action 2000, to be held in Milwaukee, WI on November 3-5. This year, DignityUSA will sponsor a mini-conference on Friday, November 3rd, from 9 am to 3 pm. Marianne Duddy and Ron Karstetter will facilitate the event, I Called You by Name: The Spirituality of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and transgender People. This is open to all CTA attendees.

Marianne will also be presenting a session on same sex marriage, along with Bob Pileggi from Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund in New York.

DignityUSA will once again host a reception following the opening session on Friday, November 3rd, as well as a Saturday lunchtime caucus.

The DignityUSA exhibit booth will be open for the duration of the conference. Don’t forget to stop by, or perhaps you might volunteer to staff the booth for an hour or two along with board members.

CTA is offering discounted group registration of $125 per person. If you would like to take advantage of the group discount, please send your completed registration form and payment payable to Call To Action, to the DignityUSA national office. Please note that Dignity cannot process on-line registrations as part of the group discount.

The cost of the Friday mini-conference is $60, and should be included in the payment along with the registration form.

Registration and payment must be received in our office no later than September 15. We will forward all registrations to CTA.

Call To Action is the leading organization for Church renewal and reform. DignityUSA, as the leading organization for Church renewal and reform for GLBT Catholics, is proud of its prominent role in this year’s conference.

Please consider attending the mini-conference as well as the full weekend of events.

People of Dignity, Speak Up…& Take Personal Responsibility !

Dignity Chapters Encouraged to Act!

In order to express our outrage at the Vatican's most recent attack on Sr. Jeannine Gramick, Rev. Bob Nugent and their ministry to the GLBT community, Dignity Chapters are encouraged to participate in visible and prayerful action. If you are organizing a prayer vigil, protest or other activity in your area, please call the DignityUSA office at 1-800-877-8797 to let us know the date, time, location and nature of the action. New Ways Ministry can also help, by providing contact information and mailing lists of people who may be interested in supporting such actions. New Ways Ministry can be reached at 301-277-5674.

National Board Meeting

By the time you read this edition of the Dateline the National Board of Directors will have met in Washington D.C. for their summer meeting. Look for a report on the meeting in the September Dateline.

DignityUSA Convention 2001

How time does fly. In less than a year our Dignity family will be gathering again for our reunion and rejuvenation. The Chicago Convention should prove to be a most exciting one and the future of Dignity will figure prominently at this convention. For some this will be a return to the Windy City as Dignity held its 3rd Convention in Chicago September 1975. Plan now to be a part of this event and mark your calendars. The Convention will take place during the first week in July, 2001 at the Westin Hotel on N. Michigan Ave. In addition to the convention itself, there is a lot to see and do in Chicago. Hope to see you there!
