Blessed Pride! What a year it has been! With the recent enactment of marriage equality in Rhode Island, Delaware, and Minnesota, it is estimated that one in five same-sex couples now live in places where they can be legally wed. We await decisions from the U.S. Supreme Court that could well overturn both California’s Proposition 8 and the Federal DOMA restrictions on same-sex couples. Equality is on the move, and Catholics continue to lead the march toward greater justice.

May 2013 Dateline

The week of April 15 was surreal. New York and Washington, DC know all too well what terror is like. Boston has just suffered tremendously. In Boston, Patriot’s Day is usually a wonderful day off for many. It is also the day that the Red Sox play in Fenway Park and the Boston Marathon occurs. This marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon, where amateur and professional runners have to qualify in order to participate. Families and friends cheer as their loved ones run the hilly terrain of eight Massachusetts cities and towns.

April 2013 Dateline

Spring is finally here, and with it longer and brighter days, and baseball!  Nothing cheers me up more in April than the beginning of baseball season.  I am relentlessly hopeful for the Red Sox and look forward to every game with anticipation of what can happen, knowing that I cannot give up until the last out.  Yes, I am quite a hopeful person and find it difficult to give up on most things or people.

"I would simply like to thank DignityUSA for standing up for the right of homosexuals. This sets a huge example for other Catholic churches to take up a similar belief. January 2013 Dateline

Whether we are working to ensure that LGBT people and our families find welcome and affirmation in parishes across the country, offering sacraments to our community in our chapters, or talking with Catholics in Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, or Rhode Island about why marriage equality is consistent with our faith, our goal is always to bring greater justice into our world and our Church. All of these efforts spring from our vision of the day when all LGBT Catholics know full inclusion in all aspects of the Church and society.
