DignityUSA Prepares for Millennium March on Washington, April 30, 2000
WASHINGTON, DC, January 27, 2000 — The march and rally is on, and the time is close at hand. DignityUSA, a sponsor of the event, will be participating as a group. Additional events for the weekend continue to be planned and will be announced as information becomes available. Line-up for the March will begin at 8:00 AM at the Ellipse, behind the White House. Some groups will be gathering at other places and converge at the Rally from varying directions. The March will begin at 10:00 AM on April 30, 2000, and the Rally will take place on the National Mall from Noon to 6:00 PM. A gathering place for those who wish to march and attend the rally as part of the Dignity contingent will be announced later. A Millennium Fest is scheduled on Pennsylvania Ave. between 3rd and 9th Streets on Saturday and Sunday, with a dance Saturday night. Dignity/Washington and Dignity/Northern Virginia invite all to join their Mass celebrations on Saturday and Sunday evenings. HOUSING: The MMOW organization has set up a housing arrangement. Call DC Accommodations at (800)554-2220 to reserve a hotel room for the weekend of the March, or book directly off of the MMOW website, http://www.mmow.org. People are urged to book rooms soon! Look at the MMOW website TRAVEL section for information on hotel availability and prices. DignityUSA will NOT have hotel rooms blocked out for this event. Also, our Dignity community in the Washington area will offer housing hospitality, to the extent possible.
