Is anti-gay violence still a problem?

Initiatives to deny or rescind basic civil rights have been on ballots in many states.

Hate crimes legislation: Only 15 states and the District of Columbia include sexual orientation in their hate crimes statutes.

National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs: Large increases in hate crimes against homosexuals were reported in Los Angeles (55 %), Virginia ( 206 %), Detroit (29 %) and Cleveland (64 %).

Texas: His killers reportedly shouted, "Joto! Joto!" (faggot!)

Myrtle Beach, SC: The last words he remembers hearing that night were, "I'm gonna kill you, faggot."
